Fourth of July Inspired Blue and Red Smokey Eyes Tutorial(beginner friendly)

7:42 AM

Hey everyone!
I'm here today with a tutorial on this super bright blue and red smokey eyes. A few days before I created this look, I really wanted to do a look just featuring the shades blue and red and I am only now noticing, as I am typing this post that it was the fourth of july when I actually made the tutorial! I subconsciously created a look perfectly suited to the colours of that day haha! So let's get started!

What you'll need:
  • Black eyeshadow primer/creamy black pencil eyeliner
  • Blue shimmery eyeshadow
  • Matte red eyeshadow
  • Black eyeshadow
  • Matte warm brown eyeshadow
  • Shimmery champagne eyeshadow
  • Black gel/liquid liner
  • Mascara
  • Falsies(optional)
Step 1
Blend the warm matte brown eyeshadow into your crease. This will serve as our transition shade.

Step 2
Prime your eyelids with the black eyeshadow primer. I used the la girl pro eyeshadow primer in black but you can even use a creamy black pencil eyeliner all over the eyelids and blend it out. This is just so the blue eyeshadow we apply next has richer pigment and this also adds some extra dimension to our shadow!

Step 3
Pat the blue eyeshadow onto your entire mobile eyelids. Then, picking up a bit of the same warm brown crease shade we used previously on a fluffy blending brush, blend the edges of the blue eyeshadow in the crease.

Step 4
Carefully pick up a small amount of the black eyeshadow and blend it into the outer v of your eyes. Pick up smaller quantities of eyeshadow and build up the colour when you're working with black or very deep eyeshadow shades because they are not as forgiving and can quickly look patchy or too heavily applied.

Step 5
Using a pencil brush, blend the red eyeshadow onto your lower lashline. Make sure not to drag this shade too far onto your face as it can make you look tired or sick.

Step 6
Do your eyeliner in your favourite style. Curl your lashes and apply mascara.

Step 7
Pop the champagne shade onto the inner corner of your eyes and blend it slightly into the shadows on the eyelid and lower lashline. You can stop the look here if you're not adding the lashes.

Step 8
I decided this look needed more drama and popped on the house of lashes lashes in the style knockout and that's it you guys! You're done!
