LA Colors 16 Color Eyeshadow Palettes in Smokin' and Haute review and swatches
11:31 AM
Hey guys!
Hope everyone's having a good day/night! I didn't have a
good night's sleep last night so I've been walking around feeling like a zombie
all day. Anyways today's review is on two very affordable palettes that I've
been OBSESSED with and have been using CONSTANTLY in so many looks that I’ve
created both on Instagram and in real life. I’m talking about the la colors 16 color eyeshadow palettes in Smokin' and Haute! And the only reason I didn’t get
the third palette named Sweet is because it was out of stock!

What LA colors claims..
VIBRANT COLORSCREATE A MULTITUDE OF LOOKS
DUAL ENDED APPLICATOR
An all-in-one palette with 16 matte and shimmer shadows to contour, define and create any look you desire. Smooth, velvety shades glide onto your eyelids for an array of customized looks. Complete with dual ended applicator.
Packaging and cost..
It’s got basic white plastic packaging with a see-through
lid so you can easily see which palette you’re grabbing. I do find it can get
really hard to open sometimes unless you’ve got some nice long nails. I
definitely don’t have those! I don’t even notice myself biting them and suddenly
I have hands like an 8 year old :D
But I shall not dare to complain about that
considering that this palette costs anywhere between $3.99-$5.99 (600-900LKR) depending on where you purchase it. It comes with that
little sponge applicator that everyone seems to hate. I don’t mind them. I find
it packs on colour quite nicely but you can only use those once and it goes in
the bin.
My thoughts...
I think if you follow me on Instagram it’s evident what I
think about these palettes. IN LOVE is one way to say it. La colors was even
kind enough to repost one of my looks created using the Smokin' palette on their
Instagram page! Each palette has 16 pigmented buttery shades! I don’t want to
say the shadows are shimmery.. let’s call them sophisticated shimmery! I want
you to understand that this isn’t the kind of shimmery you find in normal cheap
drugstore makeup or even children’s makeup. This is the kinda shimmer that you
can even blend into your crease and it looks STUNNING!
Smokin' palette...
Contains some nice dark shades that can be built up for
night time wear or blended and sheered down for daytime wear.
The black, white, pale pink and champagne shades have quite
a bit of fallout but everything else has minimal to zero fallout. I suggest you
do your eye makeup first so you can just swipe the fallout away and apply your
foundation/concealer.

Haute palette..
Has some bright pastel shades along with some ‘haute’ deeper
shades (haha see what I did there?)
Just like in the Smokin' palette the white, champagne and pale pink shades have a bit of fallout and are chalky.

I used a primer for all the looks I’ve created below so I
can get extra pigmentation! But hope you enjoy!
Would I recommend this?
Tootally!! Give these a try! Especially the Smokin' one. The
shades are very wearable! It’s available even on ebay! I feel like these palettes are also perfect for someone who’s
just starting out with makeup and doesn’t want to spend too much or even for
makeup artists just starting out!
Thank you so much for reading and have a wonderful day/night!
