Sultry Matte Purple Smokey Eyes Tutorial(Beginner friendly)
9:04 AMHey my loves!
How has your day been? I have been procrastinating all day trying to type this post haha not gonna lie but anyways today I created this gorgeous, smokey, sultry deep purple smokey eyes! It is a lot easier to recreate than it looks so let's get started! But! A quick reminder! Since the shadows are so pigmented and dark, I recommend doing your eye makeup before your skin so you can just wipe the fallout, if there is any, with a makeup wipe and continue with your face makeup!
- Warm matte brown/matte mauve eyeshadow
- Matte dark purple eyeshadow
- Matte black eyeshadow
- Brown pencil liner(optional)
- Eyeliner
- Mascara
- Falsies(optional)
After priming your eyelids, blend the matte warm brown shade or matte mauve shade into your crease. I actually mixed both those shades but using either one will work fine. This will be your transition shade.

Pat the deep purple shade on your eyelids and blend it into the mauve shade we first applied.

Blend the black eyeshadow into the outer edge/outer v of your eyes to deepen up the look. Be careful with the black eyeshadow because it can look quite stark so make sure you apply it with a very light hand.

Repeat steps 1, 2 & 3 on your lashline. I.e. blend the matte brown or mauve shade onto your lower lashline, then blend the purple shade closer to your lashes. Finally blend a very small amount of black eyeshadow just into the very outer part of your eyes and join it with the eyeshadow we applied on the eyelid.
- If you have down turned or droopy eyes, skip applying the black shadow on the lower lashline.
- Also, don't bring any of the eyeshadows we applied on your lower lashline too low onto your face as this can sometimes make you look tired.

If you have any fallout, you can clean it with a makeup wipe and using your foundation, draw a line just under the shadows we applied on the lower lashline all the way towards the tail of your eyebrows. Next, carefully blend this out. This will help give the eyes a lifted look.
dramatic purple smokey eyes tutorial |
Apply your eyeliner, curl your lashes and apply mascara! I popped on a pair of falsies so I just lined my lashline to hide the false lash band and didn't really do a wing. If you're wearing falsies, you can do the same thing! But if you want to just rock mascara, you can do some winged liner or even no liner and several generous coats of mascara would look great with this look! Since the eyes make such a statement.
I then lined my lower waterline with a brown pencil liner. You can skip this lining step if you have smaller eyes because it might make your eyes look smaller. Try using a nude pencil liner in your lower waterline if you do have smaller eyes, this will actually open up your eyes more.
Step 7
Last step, I popped on these falsies that you're all probably tired of seeing because I wear them so much haha. But that's because I love how even though they're dramatic, they're not too thick that they hide all the eyeshadow work I did on the eyelids! Anyways, the look is DONE!!
