Best Setting Spray Ever?!

Hey guys,
Today I have a bizarre makeup trick or hack whatever you want to call it, to talk about!

.
It's about using hairspray as a setting spray! Yes, you heard that right!! And no even though I wish I discovered this, I sadly didn't haha. Hairspray has been used for decades by stage performers and drag queens to keep their makeup in place. And this is because the ingredients in hairspray have been designed to hold hair even when it's humid and so is able to keep the makeup on your face through all that sweating and heat!

The Veiled Artist : Best Setting Spray Ever
I heard about this about two years ago from Youtube Makeup Guru Tati Westbrook and I was fascinated yet completely terrified! I thought I'd wake up with breakouts all over my cheeks! Because most products intended for use on hair tends to cause breakouts! Especially conditioner!

But I decided to brave everything and try the trick out after doing a full face of makeup for an event. I grabbed my L'Oreal Elnett hairspray with shaky hands and sprayed it all over my face(like I would a normal setting spray) keeping the can about a feet away from my face. Since then, I have learned to hold my breathe while doing this. Most hairsprays do not smell or taste good you guys.

My face first felt wet and then tacky. The tackiness goes down after about half an hour, but doesn't fully disappear. It's definitely not uncomfortable in any way! And after lots of dancing and eating and having fun, I came home and checked my face in the mirror and I was shocked to see that my makeup looked exactly the same as it did when I left home! After all that sweating and blotting that I did throughout the event.  Even most of my blusher was still on(this is usually the first thing to wear off)!

That being said I don't use hairspray on my face every time I wear makeup!! It contains large amounts of alcohol and will dry out your skin and cause breakouts. I save it for when it's a big event where I know I need my makeup to STAY PUT!

Disclaimers..
  • So far I've only tried this technique with varying versions of the L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray. So I don't know if other hairsprays will cause breakouts.

  • Please do not try this if you have sensitive skin or breakout easily! I have normal to oily skin and I only breakout due to hormonal changes. But if you're feeling daring, and don't have sensitive skin, I say you give it a shot! I hope it works for you as well as it did for me!!
